The Northern Black Sea Coast remains a hidden gem, cherished by its devoted followers who prefer to keep it under the radar. As you venture further north, the beaches widen, the landscapes become more untamed, and the crowds thin out. Here lies a treasure trove of natural wonders waiting to be discovered.

Starting from the last village before the border with Romania, which is Durankulak, you can find the largest beaches north of Shabla, along with famous conservation and scientific sites. The area of Durankulak is home to some of the most expansive and stunning beaches in the region, attracting visitors from all over the world. In addition to their beauty, these beaches are also significant for their ecological value and have been designated as protected areas. Scientific institutions also conduct research in this area, studying the unique flora and fauna that thrive in this coastal ecosystem.

Durankulak Lake is one of the most renowned attractions in the area, known for its ecological and historical significance. This protected area is home to a plethora of rare biological species, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers. The lake is also an important archaeological site, with excavations revealing evidence of human settlements dating back thousands of years. Visitors can explore the archaeological park and learn about the fascinating history of the region, as well as enjoy the natural beauty of the lake and its surroundings.

We continue with the next village on the territory of Shabla municipality - Krapets. Krapets is on the very seashore, 5.3 km south in a straight line from the southern shore of Lake Durankulash.

Krapets has a huge, non-urbanized, about 7.5 km long dune beach. It starts from Cape Krapets at the old Karvuna campsite, continues across Lake Durankulak and ends far north at Cape Kartalburun - Durankulak.

The next small picturesque village is Ezerets - a small village, but it has many sights. Its sea, which is only 3 km from the village, has a beautiful shore with a beautiful wave. There are hotels and guest houses - The main thing that can be obtained is peace of mind.

For amateurs, the large absolutely preserved bunker at the eastern end of the village may be interesting. Due to the exceptional purity of the water in the lake, pike can be caught there, which, for example, cannot be found in the Durankulask "gole".

We reached Shabla - the easternmost point of Bulgaria. On the territory of Shabla there is the oldest lighthouse on the Balkan Peninsula, and according to some in Europe.

In the sea around Shabla there are many sunken sea vessels and submarines from the Second World War. This makes Shabla a preferred destination for underwater tourism. The area is also a favorite place for ornithologists. Next to Shabla is a yacht club, from which the annual Black Sea yacht regatta starts.

The picturesque coast of the village of Tyulenovo is located next to the town of Shabla. The village received the name Tyulenovo because of the presence of herds of monk seals, for whom exactly such a combination of surf, caves, low rocks and winds turned out to be a suitable place for settlement.

However, those who simply went to Tyulenovo to feel the beauty of the coast, and not to undergo extreme experiences, can stay in the several hotels and guest houses in the village.

Kavarna - known for Cape Kaliakra, Bolata, Yailata and Ogancheto. Every place known for its beauty.

Cape Kaliakra is a rocky peninsula protruding into the sea. It attracts the attention of tourists from afar with its special silhouette. Along it there are many natural caves that look like rooms. From the last "room" in the rock there is an arched window over a dizzying chasm, in which the waves of the Black Sea crash with a noisy splash around the boulders piled up under the narrowest ledge of the mountain promontory. This part is called "gate of the forty maidens".

Bolata is a small, secluded and strikingly beautiful bay on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The beach is clean and pleasant, the water is shallow, clear and cool, and you will find the reddish rocks around very interesting. The bay is an excellent place for diving, and thanks to the fact that the Via Pontica passes over the lake, interesting waterfowl also nest here - little grebe, common kingfisher, ducks, herons, grebes, little water bull, etc.

Yailata is a national archaeological reserve that has collected artifacts from several eras. The most interesting sites are the cave dwellings and necropolises.

In the locality there is a kind of "cave city" with 101 ancient dwellings - natural caves, modified by human hands. They are also believed to have been created around the fifth millennium BC. and have been used for thousands of years. Some of the premises were also used as churches and sanctuaries, there was also a rock monastery on the site.

"Ogancheto" is an attractive place near Kamen Briag. It has been burning for tens of years, as its source is a metal pipe with gas, which, due to its small flow rate, is allowed to flow freely. The fire burns constantly and can only be extinguished by terribly strong rains and winds, but there is always an enthusiast to rekindle it.

The last place on our northern Black Sea coast is the botanical garden in the city of Balchik. A university botanical garden in Balchik was created on the territory of the park part of the former summer residence of the Romanian queen. Today, the Botanical Garden covers an area of 190 decares, and has plant collections with over 3,500 species, which are constantly increasing. It has established itself as an important tourist site. In addition, it is a Cultural Monument, a Protected Area under the EPA and a Rescue Center under the Washington Convention.

Do not miss to see these corners with your own eyes. It is more beautiful when you see the places with your eyes and feel them with your heart.
